How to Update Your Nameservers

Last updated 6 June 2026

Pointing Your Domain to Web Design Hosting SA

To use your domain with Web Design Hosting SA hosting, you need to update the nameservers on your domain so that DNS queries are handled by our servers.

What Are Nameservers?

Nameservers are the DNS servers that manage all the DNS records for your domain. When you update them, you tell the internet to look at our servers for your domain's configuration.

Our Nameservers

Your nameservers are provided in your welcome email. They typically look like:

  • ns1.webdesignhostingsa.co.za
  • ns2.webdesignhostingsa.co.za

If you are unsure of your nameservers, open a support ticket and we will confirm them.

How to Update Nameservers

The process depends on where your domain is registered:

If Your Domain Is Registered with Web Design Hosting SA

  1. Log in to your client area
  2. Go to Domains > My Domains
  3. Click the domain you want to manage
  4. Click Nameservers
  5. Enter our nameservers and save

If Your Domain Is Registered Elsewhere

  1. Log in to your domain registrar's control panel
  2. Find the nameserver settings for your domain
  3. Replace the existing nameservers with ours
  4. Save the changes

How Long Does It Take?

Nameserver changes take up to 24-48 hours to propagate globally. During this time, your site may be intermittently available.
